Swim 'N Save USA is an authorized dealer!

The importance of an authorized dealer and how this effects you!

Q:  What is an authorized dealer?

A:  An authorized dealer is either a store, contractor, or service company that has permission by the product manufacturers it carries to sell or service the products.  Buying from an authorized dealer is extremely important in concern when a product shall break, quit working, or otherwise deemed unusable during the manufacturers warranty period, the manufacturer will gladly replace or repair the product(s).

Q:  How does this effect me, as the customer?

A:  Customer's shop on the internet for a variety of reasons, whether it be convenience, prices, or a combination of a few variables.  The internet has become the most comprehensive melting pot for many different stores, information, and sometimes fraudulent purposes.  The purpose of this article is to simply inform you regarding your options and educate you into making the best informed decision and make your purchases correctly.

Q:  Is it safe to purchase online?

A:  Many online stores offer extremely low prices, guarantees, discounts, gift certificates and many other offers, but only a few of them actually mean it (legally)!  Stores that use the classic "bait and switch" technique are out there in growing numbers.  They either sell a product as new, then give you a used, returned, or refurbished item, or they will sell you a product well below "minimum approved pricing" (MAP) to get you in the door, then try to up-sell you the "real" product at a higher price.  Usually, if you don't upgrade to the real product, they will cancel the order completely since they really don't sell the "purchased" product to begin with and charge you a cancellation fee.  Stores that perform illegal operations should always be reported to Consumer Affairs, Attorney GeneralB.B.B., and your local authorities to protect future "victims"!

Q:  If I bought something on the internet, will the manufacturers still honor my warranty?

A:  Some online retailers may sell legitimate products at extremely low prices, however, they either sell and/or buy them from auction sites or the manufacturers do not have them listed as an authorized dealer.  As you can (usually) receive these products, there is also the likelihood that again, the product needs some sort of warranty work.  The warranty will then be declined by the manufacturer as you did not purchase from an authorized dealer.  The best way to find out if a store is legitimate, is to find them listed as such on the manufacturers direct website(s).  You should also look to see if their address, a working phone number, or any contact method (other than an e-mail address) is plainly accessible.  Most fraudulent websites may NOT readily give this information out as they have something to hide!  The best thing to do is use your "gut feeling".  If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't!

Information to keep in mind:

1.  "No complaints" doesn't necessarily mean "no problems":  Most fraudulent or illegitimate stores open and close very quickly, so complaints may not have been filed in time.

2.  Know who your dealing with:  Look for reviews or feedback from real live customers that have previously dealt with the company.

3.  Be skeptical of extremely low prices:  Goods from these companies usually aren't legitimate or may be going out of business so you may never even receive the goods or rebates.

4.  Resist purchasing pressure:  Legitimate companies will never bother you to quickly make the purchasing decision and force you to make a puchase quickly.  Take your time, research what you're buying before you take action.

5.  Talk to a live person:  Legitimate companies will gladly talk to you in person.  If you feel uncomfortable, attempt to contact the "company".  If nobody answers or returns your calls, it may be a scam.  A legitimate company will always have several means to contact them.
