Importance of Sanitization

Pools & spas are extremely vulnerable to illness causing bacteria or other contaminants introduced into the water by bathers and spa users. Chlorine based sanitizers are strong, effective disinfectants. They kill harmful bacteria, aid in algae control and help keep the pool clean and clear. These sanitizers also leave beneficial chlorine residual in the water that continually destroys new bacteria entering the pool, protecting swimmers from potentially harmful contaminants and therefore should be a critical part of any pool care program. Using a chlorinated sanitizer allows bathers to enjoy the benefits of a healthy pool and spa environment.

Dy-Chlor II is a concentrated chlorinating sanitizer containing the active ingredient sodium dichloro-s- triazinetrione, commonly called “dichlor”, a strong oxidizer. When used as directed, this product provides effective bacterial, fungicidal and algaecidal control in swimming pools. Dichlor reacts with water to release hypochlorous acid, the active killing form of chlorine that does the actual sanitizing work.

FEATURES

Self stabilized – Dy-Chlor II has a built in stabilizer containing cyanuric acid, which helps prevent sunlight from degrading the chlorine.

Works continually to kill bacteria – The available chlorine (56%) is released when the product is dissolved in water and works continually to kill bacteria, control algae and destroy the organic contaminants in water.

Gentle on pool equipment and surfaces.

Ideal for all pool surfaces.

Fast dissolving - Since the product is fast dissolving, it is suitable for slug dosing. Fast dissolution also minimizes the possibility of any undissolved product coming into contact with bleachable pool surfaces.

Clears up hazy water and helps prevent future algae growth.

APPLICATION Initial treatment

Backwash the filter system and adjust pH to between 7.2 – 7.6. Add stabilizer to establish a minimum level of 30-40 ppm and Stain and Scale inhibitor to prevent staining of pool surface due to metals.

With the pump running, broadcast 4 ounces of Dy-Chlor II per 10,000 gallons directly into the water in the deep end of the pool.

Repeat additions until a chlorine residual of 1-3 ppm is established, as determined by the use of a test kit. Average daily dosage is 2-3 ounces per 10,000 gallons to maintain the level of chlorine residual.

Algae treatment

Repeat step 1 above. Brush all surface-clinging algae visible on pool surface.

When the pool is not in use, broadcast two (2) lbs of Dy-Chlor II per 10,000 gallons for medium to heavy algae growth and one (1) lb per 10,000 gallons for light growth.

Repeat treatment in case of visible algae.

Super chlorination

Broadcast 1 lb of Dy-Chlor II directly into the water in the deep end of the pool. Use a pool brush to disperse any granules that may have settled to the bottom of the pool.
